MY STATEMENT

Have you ever been compelled to do great things but didn’t know where to start? Have you ever been inspired to help others but lacked direction of how to do it? Well thanks to two dreams that I had some ten years ago, I am now committed to do great things by helping others. It is all because of prayer, my belief in God, and the revelation through two dreams that has given me focus and a definite purpose in life. A dream, a simple dream that has forever changed my life.

My name is Joseph K. Klougan and I am 48 years old. I was born and raised in Africa in an average African family setting. In Africa, there is a different meaning to the word “average”. I remember as if it were yesterday, losing many of my young friends to disease such as malaria. I recall feeling as if you were lucky if you reached the age of thirteen because most of the children died before the age of 12. I recall my friends faced with the difficult decision of dropping out of school due to poverty and their parent’s inability to support them financially. Unfortunately, this is a sad reality for many of the children throughout Africa and other impoverished to this day.

You may wonder, how did I beat the odds? The first and most important part of my survival is my Christianity. I was born a Christian and have always put my life situations in prayer. Thanks to the mercies and goodness of God almighty, I had support from a cousin who was able to take care of me. He took care of all of my educational and medical needs. I was no different from the others kids except for the support I had. If only they had someone to take care of their basic necessities of life. Are food and education not expected for children? Should children expect to die before they reach their teens? I think that we all know the answers to these questions because of the comforts and expectations we have in America. This supports my belief that if every child in this situation is offered some level of help in Africa and elsewhere around the globe, illiteracy, infant mortality and malnutrition will be partially or better yet totally eradicated. The God in which I believe in would have it no other way. I feel that it is my calling to help as much and as many as I can.

Ten years ago, I had a dream. In the dream, I was lifted up into the sky in the middle of a multitude of birds encircled around me. I had plenty of food and the birds came near and I gave them, one by one, something to eat. I then realized that there were so many birds to feed, and I woke up. The dream was so vivid that I knew that there was meaning to it. That night I fervently prayed asking the Lord to help me understand the dream. To my amazement, the Lord gave me yet another dream. In this dream, I saw myself in a large building filled with boxes of soap and I stood at the door where I saw many people. The people were all lined up and I started giving away the boxes of soap, one by one, and again I woke up. At that time, I still could not understand the dream and I continued to pray and I asked God for the meaning of the dreams.

I was sitting at my computer several years later when I received revelation of the dream. My prayers of many years had finally been answered. God revealed to me that the birds represent the children of the world and their desire and need for food. The people all lined up for the soap represent the need of all us to be cleansed. Cleansed of disease, harsh living conditions, insufficient education; basic expectation for most people throughout the world. The fact that I dealt with the birds and the people in the dreams one by one speaks to my purpose.   Realizing the meaning of the dream has given my life new purpose and direction.

My purpose is fulfilled through God’s Children International, a non-profit, 501(c) (3) religious charity. The vision and goal of the organization is to aid African children and children around the globe with their basic needs for survival one child at a time. We do this by addressing all facets of their lives providing basic educational needs and primary health care. Furthermore, we provide these children with food supplements and vitamins, in order to eradicate malnutrition among them. Our vision will improve the lives of children worldwide and ensure a better future for many generations to come one child at a time.
